According to the south Korean Yonhap News on May 17, a car driven by a drunken serviceman of the army bumped against several cars after crossing the dividing line on a road in Chongju, North Chungcheong Province on the same day, leaving five persons wounded.

On May 5 a drunken noncommissioned officer of the Air Force beat people for no reason in Chongju.

On April 30, a serviceman on guard over a post in a unit of the Air Force in Chongju allowed a civilian to drive a car along the runway of the unit.

In January a serviceman of the army was arrested for sexually abusing a teenage girl in a toilet in Chongju.

According to the south Korean newspaper Herald Kyongje on May 19, a drunken soldier of a unit in Hwachon, south Kangwon Province stole his officer's car and took to flight on May 16.
