Magnolia Blossom, DPRK's National Flower
|
|
Pyongyang, May 27 (KCNA) -- Magnolias are in full blossom on Moran Hill in Pyongyang. Thanks to the ardent patriotism of the peerlessly great men of Mt. Paektu, magnolia blossom has been regarded as a flower symbolic of the nation. President Kim Il Sung in his lifetime liked the magnolia blossom best of all flowers and saw to it that the flower was called Mokran. He said Mokran seems to represent the sagacity of the Korean nation and designated the flower as the national flower of the DPRK. Leader Kim Jong Il ensured that Mokran, liked so much by Kim Il Sung, spread throughout the country. Supreme leader Kim Jong Un took measures to plant the Mokran trees in a massive way. The DPRK people are cultivating the Mokran trees in significant places, including the areas of Mangyongdae and the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun and revolutionary sites. |
