Involved in the firing drill which was sponsored by the First Fleet of Navy under the pretext of coping with sea provocation by someone were ten odd warships, different kinds of fighters, helicopters, patrol planes and ground missiles.

On May 12 the Marine Corps fired more than 400 shells of automatic artillery and MLRS toward the sea on Paekryong and Yonphyong islands in the West Sea of Korea for about an hour.

The south Korean military gangsters illegally intruded into the southwestern sea under the north side's control and fired 40 mm artillery shots at the ferryboat of the Navy of the Korean People's Army on a routine duty on May 27.
