Present there were officials, scientists and teachers in the field of public health, Kim Tae Sik, vice-chairman of the Korean Medical Association in Japan, and a delegation of Korean medical persons in the U.S. led by Pak Ki Pom.

Kim Hyong Hun, chairman of the Central Committee of the Medical Association of Korea, made an opening address to be followed by speeches.

The speakers said the symposium would offer an opportunity of swapping successes and experience gained in the research work for putting the Korean nation's medical science and technology on the world level and discussing ways of conducting brisk exchange and cooperation in medical science and technology.

The symposium will provide a platform for developing national medical science and technology at a higher level and contributing to the movement for national reunification and the prosperity of the country, they added.

A lecture on the theme "On shining progress in socialist healthcare in the new century of Juche under the wise leadership of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un" was given at the symposium.

The symposium heard papers scientifically and deeply proving the theoretical and practical issues arising in developing the medical science and technology of the nation and improving public health.
