Present at the seminar were representatives and other personages of more than 30 political parties and bodies of nine countries. They included the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, Liberal Democratic Party of Russia, Ukrainian Communist Party, Estonian Communist Party, People's Communist Party of Kazakhstan, Communist Party of Kyrgyzstan, Communist Party of Georgia, Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Russian Association for Friendship and Cultural Cooperation with the DPRK and the International Officers Union of the Soviet Union.

Present there on invitation were the DPRK ambassador to Russia and his embassy officials.

Taysaev, secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, first vice-chairman of the Central Council of the Communist Parties-the Communist Party of the Soviet Union and first vice-chairman of the Committee for Commonwealth of Independent States Affairs, Eurasia Integration and Liaison with Compatriots of the State Duma, made an opening address which was followed by speeches.

The speakers said that the Seventh Congress of the WPK was an event of great political significance not only for the Korean people but also for the world socialist movement and the joint seminar would be an important occasion for learning from the experience of the WPK and defending the socialist cause.

The Russia-DPRK relations are the traditional relations of friendship and cooperation with long historical roots and the Communist Party of the Russian Federation will make positive efforts to preserve the tradition of friendship and cooperation, they said.

A message of greeting to supreme leader Kim Jong Un was adopted and a joint statement supporting the decision of the Seventh Congress of the WPK was made public at the joint seminar.

The statement expressed belief that the Korean people would implement the decision of the congress and achieve fresh successes in building a prosperous power under the leadership of Kim Jong Un and the invincible fraternal friendship among the peoples of different countries would grow stronger.
