New Seed-covering Material Developed in DPRK

| Pyongyang, June 7 (KCNA) -- Scientists of the Institute of Agricultural Chemicalization under the Academy of Agricultural Science in the DPRK developed a new kind of colloidal seed-covering material. They also settled the technical problems to establish the process of producing this material on an industrial basis. The new colloidal covering material helps protect seed from underground harmful insects and ceitocybe bescens and promote the growth of crops. This covering material raises the germination rate of seed 95 percent, the rate of exterminating underground harmful insects 85 percent and per-hectare yield 10 percent. It has already been introduced to more than 200,000 hectares of farm fields throughout the country. |
