Present at the lecture were figures of the Thai Preparatory Committee for the 2017 Meeting Praising Great Persons of Mt. Paektu, the Thailand-DPRK Friendship Association and the university and masses.

Chanai Longoen, chairman of the friendship association, referred to the fact that the north-south summit was held in Pyongyang in 2000 for the first time and the June 15 joint declaration adopted there, reflecting the ideal of By Our Nation Itself.

The main spirit of the joint declaration clarifies that the reunification of Korea should be achieved by concerted efforts of the Koreans and through great national unity in line with the will and wishes of the Korean nation, he said, and went on:

The issue of Korea's reunification is not the one limited to the Korean peninsula but the one directly linked with world peace and security.

The peaceful reunification of Korea, prosperity common to the nation and world peace and security depend on upholding and implementing the ideal of By Our Nation Itself, the main spirit of the joint declaration.

I hope that Korea would be reunified independently through great national unity in line with the ideal of By Our Nation Itself.

I fully support the Korean people's just struggle.
