Struggle for Integration of Science and Technology with Economy
Pyongyang, June 12 (KCNA) -- Members of the February 17 Shock Brigade of Scientists and Technicians, active in different parts of the DPRK, have striven to settle the sci-tech problems arising in speeding up the integration of science and technology with the economy.

Those members at the Pukchang Thermal Power Complex laid a steady foundation for boosting the electricity production by solving the technical problems to stabilize the feed-water pump system and developing new additives for coal combustion.

Those at the Chonsong Youth Coal Mine developed a new type of high-performance inertia reloader and established a multipurpose telecommunications system in pits while working hard for the overall mechanization of underground work and diversification of carriage.

In the meantime, a rapid progress was registered in the work to make the country's railways heavy-duty and realize the local production of accessories needed for new types of modern machinery.

The shock brigade members active at the Forest General Bureau under the Ministry of Land and Environment Protection developed a system for making real-time estimation of the country's forest distribution and area.

Similar successes were also made in the field of urban management.
