The statement said:

The great leader Comrade Kim Jong Il provided the north-south summit in June, 2000 and made sure that the historic north-south joint declaration the core of which is By the Korean Nation Itself was adopted and published.

The publication of the joint declaration was a special event which provided a historic landmark for independent reunification on the Korean peninsula and opened an epochal phase of Korea's reunification.

Comrade Kim Jong Un, supreme leader of the Korean people, said in his report on the review of the work of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea made at its Seventh Congress that great national unity precisely means the reunification of the country.

We extend invariable support and encouragement to the just cause of the Korean people for the reunification of the country, hoping that Korea would be reunified peacefully on the principle of great national unity.
