The June 15 joint declaration whose core is By Our Nation Itself was adopted at the north-south summit in June, 2000, the first in its kind since the division of Korea.

The idea of By Our Nation Itself clarifies that the reunification issue should be solved independently by the joint efforts of the Korean nation.

By Our Nation Itself reflects the idea of national independence, great national unity and peace.

The independent and peaceful reunification of the Korean nation can be achieved only by the great national unity.

The north and the south should pool their efforts for neutralizing the U.S. nuclear threat and driving the U.S. troops and war hardware out of south Korea to eradicate the root cause of war.

Korea's independent and peaceful reunification, and peace and stability on the Korean peninsula and in Northeast Asia and other parts of the world can come true under the banner of By Our Nation Itself.

Supreme leader Kim Jong Un said in his report to the Seventh Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea on the work of the Central Committee that the north and the south should respect each other and, as partners in national reunification, work together to open a new phase in improving inter-Korean relations and reunifying the country.

The Bangladeshi newspaper Daily Industry in an article introduced By Our Nation Itself, the main spirit of the June 15 joint declaration, adding that Korea has not been reunified due to the south Korean authorities kowtowing to foreign forces and inciting confrontation with the compatriots in the north, and the foreign forces disturbing Korea's reunification although 70 years have passed since the nation was divided.
