Pyongyang, June 22 (KCNA) -- Advanced energy-conserving, green architectural technology is applied to the construction of Ryomyong Street in Pyongyang. In this regard, Sin Kwang Il, vice-director of a department of the State Academy of Sciences, told KCNA: The goal is to turn Ryomyong Street, now under construction, into an energy-saving and green one in the 21st century with domestic efforts and technology. Every flat and public building in the street will get air-conditioning and lighting systems by solar heat and geotherm. We have planned to green the roofs and exterior walls of under-40-storied buildings and nurseries and kindergartens and arrange hydroponic hothouses based on a rainwater irrigation system on their rooftops. The construction of Ryomyong Street is now making headway in the direction of saving materials as much as possible and protecting ecological environment. It is the strong will of its builders to complete the construction within this year and thus demonstrate the Workers' Party of Korea's idea of attaching importance to science and the strength of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. |
