Officials and Members of Women's Union Tour Revolutionary Battle Sites in Area of Mt. Paektu

Samjiyon, June 22 (KCNA) -- Officials and members of the Democratic Women's Union of Korea toured the revolutionary battle sites in the area of Mt. Paektu from June 17 to 22 on the occasion of the 52nd anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il's start of work at the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK). They laid bunches of flowers before the statues of President Kim Il Sung at the Monument to the Victorious Battle of Pochonbo, Pochonbo Revolutionary Battle Site, Chongbong Bivouac and the Monument to the Victorious Battle in the Musan Area and on the shore of Lake Samji and the mosaic in the secret camp on Mt. Paektu depicting the three generals of Mt. Paektu and paid tribute to them. They went round the command post of the Battle of Pochonbo, police sub-station, the subcounty office and other places in Pochonbo. They visited the Chongbong Bivouac and the Konchang Bivouac via the Spring Site in Poso-ri and the Tableland of Junghung and went round the revolutionary relics associated with Kim Il Sung's advance to the homeland. They climbed Mt. Paektu after going round the historical relics bearing witness to Kim Jong Il's childhood at his birthplace in the Paektusan Secret Camp. They looked round the groups of subsidiary theme sculptures at the Samjiyon Grand Monument and the revolutionary relics on the shore of Lake Samji. After going round various places in Samjiyon Township, they visited the Monument to the Victorious Battle in the Musan Area at the end of their march along the Kapsan-Musan guard road dating back to the days of the Japanese imperialist rule. During their tour, they visited the Paektusan Hero Youth Power Station and conducted diverse political and cultural activities such as a meeting for hearing impressions of the reminiscences of anti-Japanese guerrillas read by them and poem recitation. |
