The barrage is a great monumental edifice in the world and an eternal treasure of the country which makes a big contribution to the development of national economy and the protection of land and environment.

President Kim Il Sung declared to the world the operation of the barrage on June 24, Juche 75 (1986) and gave field guidance to it several times, giving instructions to be implemented to operate the barrage.

Leader Kim Jong Il led with deep care the barrage so that it may stand as an eternal monumental structure.

Over the past three decades, the office has waged a drive to glorify the leadership feats of the peerlessly great men of Mt. Paektu and made its history shine with loyalty.

A meeting was held on Thursday to observe the day.

Present there were O Su Yong, vice-chairman of the C.C., the Workers' Party of Korea, Kang Jong Gwan, minister of Land and Maritime Transport, Kang Yang Mo, chairman of the Nampho City Committee of the WPK, officials concerned and officials and employees of the office.
