Pyongyang, June 29 (KCNA) -- It has been 23 years since the publication of leader Kim Jong Il's famous work "Theory of Circus" on June 29, Juche 82 (1993). Kim Jong Il, in the work, made clear the principle of creating acrobatic works ranging the selection of core to composition, music and stage arts and tasks and ways to steadily develop the circus. After the publication of his work, a number of famous acrobatic works have been created in the DPRK. Typical of them are physical acrobatics "Swinging and See-saw" and "Somersault in flight" and aerial stunt "Flying Girls" which are socialist in content and national in form. Other numbers like comic and ice acrobatics, synchronized swimming, animal feats, acrobatic suite and drama and large-scale magic performance show well the development of circus in the country and its new aspect. Acrobatic works of the DPRK won top prizes at the International Acrobatics Festival and the World Acrobatic Championship. Tops prizes were awarded to aerial stunts "Diverse Flight", "Trapeze Flight on Horizontal Bar", "Somersault in Flight", "With Wings of Leap", physical acrobatics "Three-stage Trapeze Flight", etc. at the Monte Carlo, Massy, Wuhan, "Golden Circus" international circus festivals. In particular, DPRK acrobats took two gold lion prizes at the 12th Wuqiao International Acrobatic Festival. |
