Pyongyang, June 29 (KCNA) -- In the DPRK there are many literary works such as poems and songs created during the 1950-1953 Fatherland Liberation War. Those works show the merits the Korean People's Army (KPA) performed in the war to defeat the U.S. imperialist aggressors while rapidly advancing southward. At that time, the courageous KPA soldiers launched advancement into the south on the order of Supreme Commander Kim Il Sung to repel an armed invasion by the U.S. imperialists and the south Korean puppet clique and go over to the decisive counteroffensive at once. So, poets and other writers, including Jo Ki Chon, Pak Phal Yang, Jo Ryong Chul and Paek In Jun, volunteered to accompany the servicepersons on the southward advance with a strong will to create poems and songs telling about the victorious battles. They wrote "The 38th Parallel", "On the Road to the South", "Evening of Charge", "In the Street in Flames", "Rakdonggang Front" and other poems, which vividly show the KPA soldiers' unrivaled mass heroism, stamina of annihilating the enemy and indomitable fighting spirit. Kim Puk Won, a poet, wrote poems "River Rakdong" and "South Sea Is in Sight" in reflection of the strong desire for national reunification after witnessing the KPA's heroic Rakdong River-crossing battle. Meanwhile, "Advance" and other songs were created to represent the heroic struggle and feats of the KPA units. The wartime song "Advance", created in the 1950s, still now instills the servicepersons and civilians of the country with the spirit and will to annihilate the enemy and defend the country. |
