Flood Control System for River Taedong Established
Pyongyang, June 30 (KCNA) -- A new flood control system for the Taedong River was established in the DPRK.

According to Kim Chang Song, department director of the Ministry of Land and Maritime Transport, the system consists of real-time data transmission system, DSS (decision support system), automatic lock control system, monitoring system, etc.

Through the new control system, the Taedonggang flood-control headquarters is informed of data on water level and lock situation of reservoirs and hydraulic power stations in the river basin at intervals of one minute and precipitation from hydro-meteorological observatories at intervals of ten minutes.

All lock gates along the river are under full control of the headquarters.

It is considered that the system will help minimize flood damage in the river basin.
