WPC Expresses Support for Korean People's Cause
Pyongyang, July 2 (KCNA) -- The Asia-Pacific regional meeting of the World Peace Council (WPC) held in Katmandu, Nepal on June 21 and 22 expressed full support for the Korean people's just cause.

A keynote report made at the meeting accused the U.S. imperialists and their followers of moving to ignite a fresh war against the DPRK, saying that the DPRK's right to safeguard itself from the imperialists' threat should be surely supported.

The executive secretary of the WPC said that the DPRK had access to nukes for self-defence, it is a product of the U.S. hostile policy toward the DPRK and the U.S. forces should be withdrawn from south Korea in order to ensure durable peace on the Korean peninsula.

A resolution on the Korean issue adopted at the meeting noted that to ensure durable peace on the Korean peninsula is directly related to the regional stability. It went on:

We strongly urge the U.S. and south Korean authorities to stop all joint military drills harassing peace and stability on the Korean peninsula and in the region.

We urge the U.S. to come out to talks for replacing the Korean Armistice Agreement with a peace pact without any preconditions.

We also urge the U.S. to withdraw its forces from south Korea and Japan and dismantle all military bases in the Asia-Pacific region.
