S. Korea-U.S.-Japan Military Drill under Fire

Pyongyang, July 5 (KCNA) -- 14 civic and social organizations of south Korea including the People for Achieving Peace and Reunification, the Confederation of Trade Unions, the Solidarity for Progress and the Association for Supporting Prisoners of Conscience of the Family Movement for Realizing Democracy held a press conference on June 28 in denunciation of the joint military exercise of south Korea, the U.S. and Japan.

The organizations in a press release slammed south Korea, the U.S. and Japan for staging a missile warning drill in the waters off Hawaii that day.

The press release said that the drill, from A to Z, is aimed at defending the U.S. and Japan by sacrificing south Korea and at harassing peace by escalating arms race on the Korean peninsula and in Northeast Asia.

It is clear through the remarks of those concerned with defense in the U.S. that the U.S. is accelerating the building of a triangular missile defense system, the press release noted.

It demanded the authorities stop south Korea's involvement in the U.S. MD system and cease its military exercises with the U.S. as the first step to do so.
