Heavy Rain Witnessed in DPRK
Pyongyang, July 5 (KCNA) -- Heavy rainfall was witnessed in North and South Hwanghae and Kangwon provinces and other parts of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea from 12:00 Monday to 9:00 Tuesday.

It rained 170 mm, 139 mm, 132 mm, 158 mm and 154 mm in Hoeyang, Phyonggang, Kosong, Changdo and Kimhwa counties of Kangwon Province, 138 mm and 137 mm in Paechon and Pongchon counties of South Hwanghae Province, 175 mm and 135 mm in Jangphung and Kumchon counties of North Hwanghae Province and 140 mm in Kaesong City.

On July 1, the rainfalls in Ichon, Phyonggang and Sepho counties of Kangwon Province were 142 mm, 121 mm and 115 mm and in Singye and Thosan counties of North Hwanghae Province 128 mm and 114 mm.

According to Sim Myong Ok, deputy director of the National Meteorological Forecast Squad, it rained heavily in the northern and central parts of the country from late in June to early in July, due to the low pressure frequenting those areas.

There would be scattered showers in different areas for several days by the seasonal rainy front staying in the southern part of the country, she said, adding the rainy season may begin after July 10.
