Koreans in U.S. Call for Successful Great National Conference for Reunification

Pyongyang, July 6 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the Federation of Koreans in the U.S. in a statement on Monday, the 44th anniversary of publication of the historic July 4 joint statement called for ushering in a new era of independent reunification and national prosperity by the concerted efforts of all Koreans.

Expectation for independent and peaceful reunification is growing stronger among 80 million Koreans upon receiving the proposal made at the joint conference of the DPRK government, political parties and organizations for opening a great national conference for reunification on the 71st anniversary of Korea's liberation, the statement said, and went on:

This proposal helps pave the road of again ushering in the era of concord and exchange, not confrontation and antagonism between the north and the south.

The spirit of the joint statement is fully reflected in the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration.

The way of inheriting this spirit is to actively respond to the above-said proposal of the joint conference.

The statement called for successfully opening the great national conference for reunification and thus ushering in a new era of reunification and prosperity.
