Pyongyang, July 8 (KCNA) -- The International Federation for Human Rights, the International Confederation of Trade Unions, the European Confederation of Trade Unions and the International Association against Torture made public a joint statement in denunciation of the south Korean authorities' inhuman suppression of Han Sang Gyun, chairman of the south Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU), according to the south Korean CBS on July 5. The statement recalled that a court of south Korea sentenced Han Sang Gyun to 5 years in jail on charges of leading the all-out people's rally, adding that this is suppression of the trade unions and human rights activists critical of the "government's" labor policy and violation of labor right, arousing the concern. Disclosing the unabated suppression, threat and severe punishment of leading members of trade unions in south Korea, it demanded the south Korean authorities halt the crackdown on the KCTU chairman and guarantee the right of the trade unions. |
