Noting that the north's proposal for holding a great national conference is to have a candid discussion of the issue of national reunification at a joint conference of all the political parties, organizations and individuals in the south and the north and abroad on the upcoming August 15 anniversary, the statement went on:

The north's proposal is neither part of the "united front strategy" for "unification by communizing the south" nor a tactic for creating division of south Korean society.

The south Korean regime should exam the north's proposal in the direction of improving the south-north relations.

There is no reason to deny the north's proposal for stopping confrontation and opening a wide avenue to reunification through a great national conference.

Youths and students are eagerly waiting for the day of joint conference and hoping exchange between the youths and students in the south and the north at an early date.

It is the only way for the Park Geun Hye regime to positively respond to the efforts of people from all walks of life for a great national conference and come out for dialogue.

The statement urged the regime to withdraw the meaningless policy for sanctions and confrontation and sincerely accept the north's proposal in the spirit of national independence to open a wide avenue to improving the south-north relations and achieving peaceful reunification.
