It has played a vanguard role in developing the nation's IT industry and has an important mission to perform in building a knowledge-based economic power.

Leader Kim Jong Il paid attention to the work of the bureau, indicated the orientation and ways of developing IT on an independent foundation and inspired its scientists and technicians to make an uninterrupted leap forward.

The bureau, founded on July 15, Juche 75 (1986), has grown to be a dependable IT center equipped with competent IT talents and modern research facilities under the leadership of the party and the leaders for the past 30 years. By combining scientific research with production it has made a great contribution to putting the national economy on IT basis.

The meeting to mark the founding anniversary took place on Thursday. It was attended by Choe Thae Bok, vice-chairman of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, and officials and employees of the bureau.
