The championship held in Thaipei of China from July 7 to 10 brought together more than 300 boy and girl wrestlers from 19 countries and regions including the DPRK, Mongolia and Iran.

Won Myong Gyong won a gold medal in the women's wrestling 40kg category event and Kim Myong Su in the men's freestyle wrestling 42kg category event.

Hwang Un Hui bagged a silver medal in the women's wrestling 43kg category event and Han Hyon Song and Jo Sun Chol won bronze medals in the men's freestyle wrestling 46kg category event and in the men's Greco-roman wrestling 42kg category event respectively.
