Action for Release of Chairman of KCTU Declared in S. Korea

Pyongyang, July 16 (KCNA) -- People from all walks of life in south Korea declared an action for the release of Han Sang Gyun, chairman of the south Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU), on July 13, according to the south Korean newspaper Nodong and Segye.

There took place a "July 13 meeting on the situation" in Seoul that day.

Speakers deplored that the sentence of Han to five years in jail stopped even the second hand of the clock of democracy on this land.

The meeting underlined the need to launch practical actions for the release of Han and democratization, form the defense counsel of 100 persons and boost cooperation with international labor bodies and human rights organizations.
