S. Korean Religious Body Says No to THAAD Deployment
Pyongyang, July 18 (KCNA) -- The south Korean Roman Catholic Church voiced opposition to the regime's decision to deploy THAAD on July 15, according to Yonhap News of south Korea.

THAAD deployment will not help preserve peace on the Korean peninsula but spark a new Cold War, the church noted, expressing concern over it.

Urging the regime to drop the calculation that arms buildup would defuse tensions and bring peace on the Korean peninsula, the church said THAAD deployment can never be justified.

THAAD deployment would only becloud the prospect of north-south cooperation and dialogue and aggravate tensions and hostility with neighboring countries, the church said, adding it would worsen the people's living and increase economic unrest.

Noting peace can be achieved only through north-south reconciliation and cooperation, not by force, it urged the regime to reexamine the issue of THAAD deployment.
