Rodong Sinmun says that in July, 2000 Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, president of the Russian Federation, visited the DPRK during which a historical summit of the two countries was held and the said declaration was adopted, adding:

The joint declaration served as an example and motive force in ensuring sound development of the international relations and preserving global peace.

The friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries have developed with dynamism at a high level since the adoption of the declaration.

The DPRK and Russia are the neighbors sharing the same border and their friendly relations are long-standing and traditional.

It is beneficial for ensuring peace and stability not only in the two countries but in the whole of Northeast Asia to value and develop the bilateral friendly ties.

The whole course of developing the relations between the two countries proved that their friendly ties are in full line with their desire, wishes and interests.

Only when the two countries value and add luster to the history of friendship and its tradition and the common fruits reaped in its course, can they develop their friendly relations on a new high stage under any conditions and circumstances.

The Korean people will as ever continue striving to boost the friendly relations with Russia in the spirit of the joint declaration.

Minju Joson notes it is the invariable stand and will of the Korean people to develop the relations of friendship and cooperation with the Russian people.
