The Syrian Arab Republic is standing by the DPRK struggling for defending the independent right of the people, the statement said, denouncing the U.S. for its unreasonable sanctions against the DPRK.

The U.S. hostile policy toward the DPRK is a violation of the sovereignty of the Korean people, it noted, supporting the DPRK's principled stand to defend the country's dignity and achieve the independent reunification of the country.

It opposed the THAAD deployment in south Korea, adding that the north and the south of Korea should achieve peace and reunification of the Korean peninsula through dialogue.
