Participating in the contest were 360 swimmers selected from more than 10 universities in the city including Kim Il Sung University, Kim Chaek University of Technology and Pyongyang University of Printing.

Teachers competed in men's and women's 50 meters breaststroke and 50 meters freestyle swimming events and 4×50 meters mixed relay swimming event while students in men's and women's 100 meters backstroke, breaststroke, freestyle and Chollima-style swimming events and 4×100 meters mixed relay swimming event.

Kim Il Sung University came first in the team standings at the teachers and students competitions.
