S. Korean Workers Stage Vigorous Actions for Vital Rights
Pyongyang, July 23 (KCNA) -- South Korean workers' actions for vital rights are escalating, according to KBS of south Korea on July 20.

The Hyundai Motors Branch under the Metal Workers Trade Union and the Trade Union of Hyundai Heavy Industries waged a joint strike with a ten thousand unionists involved, demonstrating the unity of the labor circle.

Trade unions of shipbuilding workers including Samsung Heavy Industry joined in the strike.

Daewoo Shipbuilding and four other shipbuilding trade unions held a meeting in protest against restructuring.

The south Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU) launched a general strike across south Korea on July 20.

At the rallies of strikers simultaneously held in 14 areas including Seoul, the KCTU denounced the labor policy of the authorities and demanded measures for protecting part-time workers.
