Protest Actions against THAAD Deployment Mount in S. Korea

| Pyongyang, July 24 (KCNA) -- The Songju Committee for Checking THAAD Deployment involving inhabitants of Songju County, North Kyongsang Province of south Korea launched a protest action in Seoul on July 21 denouncing the authorities' moves to deploy THAAD. More than 2,000 members of the committee held a protest rally at Seoul Railway Station plaza with signs symbolizing peace attached to their chests. The speakers said they held the rally in Seoul to let towering anger of Songju inhabitants demanding withdrawal of the decision on THAAD deployment be known. They denounced the unilateral decision of the "government" disregarding the inhabitants. They demanded media persons write articles after seeing for themselves the reason why the inhabitants turned out in the protest action. At the end of the rally dozens of people including the county chief had their hair shaven. The participants launched a demonstration against the regime's unilateral decision on THAAD deployment and handed over a letter of protest to Chongwadae, the "Saenuri Party" and the U.S. Embassy in Seoul. |
