Russian Newspaper Hails KPA Sailors' Sinking of U.S. Heavy Cruiser during Korean War

Pyongyang, July 25 (KCNA) -- The Russian newspaper Vladivostok carried an article titled "The U.S. heavy cruiser Baltimore sank in the Korean sea sixty six years ago" on July 20 on the 63rd anniversary of the Korean people's great victory in the Fatherland Liberation War. The newspaper said: During the Fatherland Liberation War waged by the Korean people, there was a battle that would shine long in the world history of naval battles in waters off Jumunjin In July 1950. The torpedo-boat flotilla of the Korean People's Army won victory in the combat against the U.S. group of big battleships. The seamen of the KPA sank 17,000 ton-class Baltimore with four torpedo-boats and destroyed 12,000 ton-class light cruiser. This is an event to be specially recorded in the world history of naval battles. |
