S. Korean Victims of Sexual Slavery for Imperial Japanese Army Demand Settlement of Past
Pyongyang, July 25 (KCNA) -- South Korean victims of sexual slavery for the Imperial Japanese Army on July 21 held a news conference at the "National Assembly" in demand of the settlement of the past crimes.

Speakers there said that the "agreement" on the issue of sexual slavery for the Imperial Japanese Army adopted at the end of last year was the one concluded without any discussion with the victims.

The "agreement" is null and unpardonable from the viewpoint of human rights, they said.

A statement was read out at the news conference, which urged the "National Assembly" to push forward establishing a special law for the recovery of rights of the victims of the sexual slavery and the forced drafting by the Imperial Japanese Army.

The statement stressed the need for the Japanese authorities to make an official apology and legal reparation for the sexual slavery and the UN and the international community to make positive efforts for the settlement of the sexual slavery issue.

At the end of the news conference the victims of the sexual slavery presented a document demanding the institution of a special law to the "National Assembly".

Then a workshop took place in which the victims denounced the Japanese authorities for seeking the revival of militarism through amendment of the constitution.

Noting that the Japanese authorities distort history and beautify the past crimes, they urged the south Korean authorities to carry the facts about the past crimes of aggression by the Japanese imperialists in history textbooks and promote the enactment of the special law without fail.
