It comprehensively deals with the idea that the great unity of the nation is fundamental to the country's independent and peaceful reunification and constitutes its essence and that the Korean nation should unite close as one to fulfill its responsibility and role as the driving force of the national reunification, the article says, and goes on:

Kim Il Sung in his work clarified the ideological basis of the great unity of the nation and its fundamental principle. The ideological basis of the great national unity clarified by him is patriotism and the spirit of national independence and its main principle is that all compatriots should place the interests common to the nation above all irrespective of ideology, social system and religious belief and subordinate everything to the cause of national reunification.

In the work he specified tasks and ways for achieving the great national unity such as the issue of positively developing the contact, visit and dialogue between the fellow countrymen at home and abroad, the issue of boosting the nation-wide solidarity in the struggle for national reunification and the issue of achieving the organizational alliance of all political parties, organizations, compatriots of various circles in the north and the south and abroad in the struggle for national reunification.

The dynamic advance of the June 15 era of reunification in which the north-south relations of mistrust and confrontation dramatically turned into those of national reconciliation and unity and the events unprecedented in the history of the nation took place clearly proved the validity and vitality of Kim Il Sung's idea and line of the great national unity.
