The statement said:

One month has passed since the contents of the phone message exchanged between Ri Jong Hyon, former senior secretary for publicity of Chongwadae, and the director of the press department of KBS at the time when the ferry Sewol sank were opened to public, but the Park Geun Hye regime is working hard to evade the blame for the tragedy.

Media organizations including the Press Trade Union and the Citizens Federation for Democratic Press are becoming increasingly vocal demanding the truth behind Chongwadae's moves to put media under its control.

The recent case is not something to be glossed over. It meant the revival of the "press guidelines" which existed only under the "yusin" dictatorship.

Democracy is trampled down and true media are dying under the Park regime.
