The inauguration of the power station brought about progress in power supply, one of the preconditions for carrying out the five-year strategy for national economy development, and made it possible to increase agricultural production by preventing flood and satisfactorily supplying irrigation water in the area of the River Kumya.

An inaugural ceremony took place on August 3.

Present there were O Su Yong, vice-chairman of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, officials concerned, service personnel, builders and employees of the power station.

Addressing the ceremony, O Su Yong said it is a valuable fruition of the wise leadership of the great leaders who personally initiated the building of the power station and steered the grand nature-remaking project and of the WPK that the power station was successfully built as a great power-producing base to be greatly conducive to settling electric power issue of the country and as a monumental edifice in the era of Songun.

He urged the officials and employees of the power station to minutely organize the work for management and overhaul of equipment, increase efficiency of generators and keep them going at a high rate on the basis of modern science and technology and thus fully produce electric power necessary for the country's economic development and improvement of people's living standard.

He underscored the need for them to increase electric power production, better its generator room, compound and surrounding environment and thus glorify the leadership exploits of the Party.

He called for certainly building the world's greatest power where its people enjoy all blessings by boldly staging the campaign for carrying out the behests of the great leaders and upholding the Party policies, and by creating the new Mallima speed uninterruptedly in the building of a powerful socialist country, true to the tasks advanced by Marshal Kim Jong Un at the Seventh Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea.
