Ruling Party of South Korea Urged to Probe Truth behind Violence against Peasant

Pyongyang, August 9 (KCNA) -- The All-People Measure Committee for Complete Recovery of Peasant Paek Nam Gi and Denunciation of Violence in south Korea held a press conference outside the building of the ruling "Saenuri Party" in Youido, Seoul on Aug. 4 demanding the party opt for probing truth behind brutal violence against Paek, according to the south Korean internet newspaper Voice of People.

Speakers at the conference recalled that the court bench recognized the fact that police fired water cannon at Paek, knocking him down, and ruled this action was illegal.

They urged the "president" to make an apology for it and punish those behind the case.

The "Saenuri Party" should unconditionally accept the demand of the public for probing the truth behind the violence against Paek, they asserted.

At the end of the press conference the organization demanded an interview with the "Saenuri Party".

When the party refused to talk with them, angry members of the organization burnt the protest letter there.

Similar actions were simultaneously staged in 8 areas of south Korea including North Jolla, South Chungchong and Kangwon Provinces of south Korea that day.
