Abnormal Hot Weather Lasts in DPRK
Pyongyang, August 10 (KCNA) -- Abnormal hot weather continues from early August throughout the DPRK.

According to information data available at the State Hydro-meteorological Administration, the mean air temperature was 32.6 degrees on Aug. 3-8, 4.1 degrees higher than the average.

On Aug. 4-7, the daily mean maximum temperature varies between 29.6 degrees and 36.5 degrees Celsius in the west coastal area, 30.9 and 37.8 in the central inland area, 27.3 and 38.3 in the northern inland area and 29.3 and 37.5 in the east coastal area.

On Aug. 5, 38.3 degrees was recorded in the area of Hyesan, Ryanggang Province, 1.2 degrees higher than the highest one observed on July 24, 1997 and 37.8 degrees in Suphung of North Phyongan Province, 0.8 degrees higher than the extremum temperature on Aug. 6, 1989.

Temperature overpast the extremums in the areas of Kyonghung, Pyoksong, Sinwon, Songhwa, Kosan and Sinchon with 36.5 to 38.3 degrees and in the areas of Usi, Sijung, Sinphyong, Paechon, Anak and Samchon with 35.2 to 37.8 degrees.

High pressure formed in Tibet area was mixed with high pressure above the northwest Pacific, causing unusual hot weather.

This abnormal atmospheric circulation is forecast to continue for coming days and the high pressure, which causes unusual hot weather, to weaken before or after August 15.
