Kim Il Sung's Feats for Korea's Liberation
Pyongyang, August 14 (KCNA) -- It has been 71 years since Korea was liberated from Japan's colonial rule (August 15, 1945).

On this occasion, the Korean people recall with deep emotion the feats President Kim Il Sung performed for the country's liberation.

He formed the Down-with-Imperialism Union in his teens and founded the new-type revolutionary armed forces to wage a 20 year-long revolutionary war against the Japanese imperialists, styling themselves the leader of Asia, with neither state-backing home front nor assistance of a regular army.

During the war, he led battles against the enemies to victory with superb guerrilla tactics while arousing patriotic forces of all strata to a sacred war for national liberation.

After liberating the country, he built a new democratic country in Korea, defeated the U.S. forces, boasting of the myth of its mightiness in the 1950-1953 Fatherland Liberation War and built a powerful socialist country independent in politics, self-supporting in economy and self-reliant in national defence.

The exploits he performed for the country's liberation was creditably adhered to and glorified by leader Kim Jong Il.

He turned the area of Mt. Paektu into a great sanctuary for education in the revolutionary tradition to imbue the servicepersons and people of the DPRK with the spirit of Mt. Paektu. And he defended the nation's dignity and laid a firm foundation for building a thriving nation with the might of the Paektusan army.

Now, the sacred lifeline of the Korean revolution is reliably carried forward by supreme leader Kim Jong Un who instills into the minds of all the servicepersons and people the revolutionary spirit of Paektu, the spirit of the blizzards of Paektu.
