THAAD Deployment in S. Korea Disturbs Regional Peace and Security: Rodong Sinmun

Pyongyang, August 17 (KCNA) -- Media of China and Russia are strongly blasting THAAD deployment in S. Korea. They comment that the U.S. is planning to deploy THAAD in Japan and the Philippines, too, and THAAD deployment in south Korea is chiefly aimed to disable China's strategic nuclear force. This cannot but upset the regional strategic balance and spark off a new Cold War as it is part of the moves for building the U.S. missile shield and establishing the U.S.-Japan-south Korea triangular military alliance in a bid to contain major big powers in the Asia-Pacific region, they charged, adding China and Russia will never remain a passive onlooker to this for the sake of their security. Rodong Sinmun Wednesday in a commentary says these comments are based on the objective facts about the U.S. pivot to the Asia-Pacific strategy and the U.S. forces' military moves in the region. The U.S. is claiming that THAAD deployment in south Korea will have no impact on the strategic security of China and Russia but it is no more than a clumsy wordplay, the commentary notes, and goes on: THAAD deployment in south Korea is a product of the U.S. military strategy to disable the strategic nuclear force of China and Russia and hold hegemony in the region. The situation in the Asia-Pacific region is reaching an extreme phase and the world peace is seriously threatened. This is because the U.S. is getting all the more pronounced in its moves to put the Asia-Pacific region under its control and dominate the world. The U.S. is, indeed, chiefly to blame for escalating tensions and disturbing global peace. The U.S. should be wholly accountable for escalating tensions. |
