Among them is the Songchon Hot Spring in Onjong-ri, Songchon County, South Phyongan Province, which has been well-known from 600 years ago.

It is recorded in the book "Tonggukyojisungnam (Korean geography)" published in 1481 that "a hot spring is at the foot of Mt. Yaksu."

The spring is an alkaline one considered to be efficacious for arteriosclerosis, arthropathy, neuralgia, operation aftereffect, hypertension and skin diseases.

According to Kim Jong Sul, director of the Songchon Onjong Sanatorium, many patients have taken hot spring cure and 90 percent of them got better.
