North-South Dialogue and Contacts Called for
Pyongyang, August 17 (KCNA) -- The South Side Committee for Implementing the June 15 Joint Declaration sponsored 1 000 persons-round-table talks attended by representatives from across south Korea for south-north dialogue and peace on the Korean peninsula at the Kwanghwamun Plaza in Seoul on August 14, according to Tongil News, south Korean internet newspaper.

Kwon O Hui, permanent representative of the Women's Headquarters of the South Side Committee, said that the Korean nation failed to gather at one place on the 71st anniversary of Korea's liberation.

Ri Chang Bok, chairman of the permanent representatives of the South Side Committee, said that the present regime's shameful act of harassing peace and infringing upon the people's right to existence is no longer tolerable.

Jo Song U, permanent representative of the south side committee, said that the main cause of the crisis on the Korean peninsula is the U.S. persistent pressure on the north.

A press release was made public.

The press release said that peace on the Korean peninsula is put at peril now that dialogue and contacts between the south and the north are suspended, adding that dialogue and contacts between the south and the north are the only way of keeping the movement for peace alive and putting an end to the pain of the nation.
