Kimchon Citizens of S. Korea Launch No-THAAD Action

Pyongyang, August 19 (KCNA) -- The Kimchon City Council of Democratic and Civic Organizations in south Korea involving 11 bodies such as Freight Workers' Solidarity, Railways Trade Union, Health and Medical Workers Trade Union and the Kimchon branch of the Teachers Union is dynamically waging No-THAAD action, according to the south Korean Yonhap News.

The council formed the Kimchon No-THAAD Measure Committee on August 16 in protest against the discussion on choosing a site for THAAD deployment near Songju Golf Links closer to Kimchon than Songju Country Township.

They went to the city "assembly" and demanded it make public a statement in protest against THAAD deployment and decided to hold a candlelight rally against THAAD deployment.

The city "assembly" in a statement declared the will to wage the struggle to the last in protest against THAAD deployment threatening vital rights of Kimchon citizens.

In the evening of August 16 the Kimchon No-THAAD Measure Committee and residents blocked roads with farm machines and staged a demo.
