Pyongyang, August 21 (KCNA) -- The construction of a big stockbreeding base in Sepho tableland, Kangwon Province of the DPRK is nearing its completion. Dwelling houses, public buildings and sheds have been built in different parts of the tableland which is covered with cocksfoot, alfalfa, clover and other feed crops cultivated on the principle of the right crop on the right soil. The Sepho tableland is a volcanogenic basaltic land formed tens of million years ago and known as a wasteland for rough weather conditions. But the land has witnessed dramatic changes, thanks to the devoted efforts of the great leaders. President Kim Il Sung took measures to build a sheep station in the tableland in 1946, one year after Korea's liberation from Japan's colonial rule. In the period of the Fatherland Liberation War (1950-1953), he visited there to indicate the ways for improving peasants' livelihood, saying that livestock farming should be promoted in the area. True to the noble intention of the President, leader Kim Jong Il set forth highly important tasks to turn the Sepho area into a socialist land of happiness in 1980s and sent dozens of highbred cattle to the area in 1992. Supreme leader Kim Jong Un saw to it that the first grand nature-remaking project for the new century of Juche was begun in the area. According to his far-reaching plan to reclaim the Sepho tableland for large-scale stockbreeding, a new history of great change came to begin in the area. After the start of the project, there appeared grassland covering thousands of hectares with a number of structures. |
