Rodong Sinmun Accuses Japan of Deliberately Blowing up Ukishima-maru
Pyongyang, August 24 (KCNA) -- The defeated Japanese imperialists on August 24, 1945 blew up the ship carrying many Koreans who were going back home, immensely pleased with the country's liberation.

This is the Ukishima-maru explosion incident recorded in history.

Rodong Sinmun Wednesday in an article says that the incident was not a simple sinking incident but a deliberate massacre.

This was indisputably proved by the whole course of the incident, testimonies made by survivors and materials surveyed and discovered so far, the article says, adding:

Right after the occurrence of the incident, the Japanese authorities hastily made public the "results of survey" which said that the incident was an "accidental and inevitable one caused by a mine placed by U.S. forces in a bid to cover up the truth behind the incident.

This was no more than a sheer distortion of the historical truth and, at the same time, the height of crafty and shameless nature peculiar to Japan.

From the viewpoint of international law and humanitarian stand and in the light of the reason why Korean people were forced to go to Japan, the incident is absolutely an unpardonable and unethical crime.

History does not know well about such brutes as the Japanese imperialists who committed the massacres even after their defeat, not content with mercilessly killing people of different countries and driving them like beasts of burden during the whole period of their colonial rule.

The army and people of the DPRK will surely force Japan to pay a very high price for all sorts of misfortune and pain the Koreans suffered in the past at the hands of the Japanese imperialists.
