Under his leadership the Korean People's Army has grown to be the army strongest in ideology and faith and the matchless army ready for attack and defense and possessed of nuclear deterrence, the chief added.

The chief of another branch said that Kim Jong Il developed in depth the idea of President Kim Il Sung on attaching importance to arms and military affairs as required by the new situation and thus comprehensively systematized it as the Songun idea and Songun political theory and established the Songun politics as the main political mode under socialism.
