In an article titled "Kim Jong Il, peerlessly brilliant commander of Songun" the newspaper said that under his Songun revolutionary leadership the DPRK has always won one victory after another in the ceaseless political and military confrontation with the U.S. styling itself the "super power".

Noting Kim Jong Il smashed all the moves of the U.S. imperialists to ignite a new war and firmly defended the dignity and sovereignty of socialist Korea with his matchless grit and pluck, the newspaper gave detailed accounts of the U.S. armed spy ship Pueblo incident, large spy plane EC-121 incident, the adoption of the DPRK-U.S. Agreed Framework, the DPRK's declaration of its access to nuclear weapons and its successful launch of satellites. It went on:

The army and people of the DPRK could win victory in the confrontation with the U.S. and make achievements in the building of a socialist power thanks to the invincible Songun politics of Kim Jong Il.

He is, indeed, the peerlessly brilliant commander who led the confrontation with the U.S. to victory all the time by dint of Songun.
