Pyongyang, August 26 (KCNA) -- Ri Su Yong, member of the Political Bureau and vice-chairman of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK), met Namibia's First President Sam Nujoma on August 23. He visited Namibia at the head of a WPK delegation. At the meeting the first president warmly welcomed the delegation, saying that he always remembers and feels thankful for the sincere help rendered by President Kim Il Sung to Namibia in its struggle for independence in the most difficult period. Noting that the Namibian people could achieve the country's independence through an indomitable struggle amid active support of friendly states such as the DPRK, he extended deep thanks to the DPRK for extending unreserved support and assistance to Namibia even after its independence. The U.S. is working hard to break the ties between the two friendly countries but Namibia would give steady continuity to the friendly and cooperative relations with the WPK and the government of the DPRK in the political, economic and all other fields, he stressed. Peace and stability can be guaranteed only by military capability to protect oneself, he noted, calling on all progressive countries to get united to frustrate the moves of the imperialists. He sincerely hoped that everything would go well in the DPRK which has the historic tradition of friendship. |
