Pyongyang, September 1 (KCNA) -- Signal achievements have been made in pomiculture of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. In particular, the country's Ryongjon Fruit Farm carried out its early-ripening fruits production quota more than 300 percent. It built a pig farm with capacity of tens of tons to establish a cyclic production system of animal husbandry and fruit farming as well as an agrochemical production base with its own efforts. The fruit production is also going up at Taedonggang and Kosan combined fruit farms, Sariwon Fruit Farm and other fruit farms, according to Kim Chol Ho, department director of the Ministry of Agriculture. In recent years, more than 1 000 hectares of dwarf apple trees were created throughout the country every year. The first half of the year alone witnessed the appearance of over 3 000 hectares of new orchards. Meanwhile, 160 good fruit species were introduced and a solid foundation laid to supply millions of fruit saplings to various orchards per year. |
