Pyongyang, September 1 (KCNA) -- An endless stream of visitors is now flowing to the Central Zoo in Pyongyang, the capital city of the DPRK, which has been recently rebuilt on a world's level. At least 740 species of animals, including 260 species of gift animals, have settled in 40-odd animal sheds in the zoo. The zoo, built on the principle of visual effect and good formative art, covers an area of 100 hectares. Visitors can easily know what kinds of animal sheds they are even from a distance. On either side of the zoo entrance are sci-tech room, e-library, exhibition room and other buildings. An aquarium was built on an expansion basis three times larger than the previous one. What catches one's eye in the zoo are the sheds of wild beasts and penguin. The penguin shed is redolent of an iceberg. Visitors can also see animals displaying their skills. In the zoo they can ride in battery-powered cars and carriages decorated with flowers. And various restaurants are arranged there to promote convenience of visitors. The Central Zoo is one of the edifices provided under the Workers' Party of Korea's policy of love for the people. |
